The proverbs of Solomon.
A wise son brings makes a glad father:
but a foolish son grief to his mother.
Ill-gotten treasures are of no value,
but righteousness delivers from death.
The LORD will not let the righteous go hungry,
but he casts away the substance of the wicked.
Lazy hands make a man poor,
but diligent hands bring wealth.
He who gathers in summer is a wise son,
but he that sleeps in harvest
is a son that causes shame.
Blessings are upon the head of the just,
but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
The memory of the just is blessed,
but the name of the wicked will rot.
The wise in heart will receive commandments,
but a prating fool shall fall.
He that walks uprightly walks securely,
but he that perverts his ways shall be found out.
He that winks maliciously causes sorrow,
and a chattering fool comes to ruin.
